Our School Values
At Burton Pidsea Primary school, our values are at the heart of everything we do. Pride, Honesty, Resilience, Responsibility, Tolerance and Respect guide how we learn, how we treat one another, and how we grow as individuals.
These values are not just words on a page – they are built, reinforced and celebrated throughout the school year. Through our curriculum, assemblies, daily interactions and wider school life, pupils are encouraged to take pride in their achievements, act with honesty and integrity, show resilience when facing challenges, take responsibility for their actions, value tolerance, and treat everyone with respect.
By embedding these values into everyday school life, we aim to nurture confident, caring and responsible young people who are well prepared for the future.
British Values
Preparing Our Pupils for Life in Modern Britain
At Burton Pidsea Primary School, we are committed to nurturing confident, compassionate and responsible young people who are well-prepared to contribute positively to life in modern Britain. Central to this is our work to develop children’s understanding of the fundamental British values — democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs — in meaningful, age-appropriate ways throughout the school year.
These values are woven through our curriculum, assemblies and everyday school life. We provide pupils with opportunities to:
-
Understand how their voices matter and how decisions are made, for example through pupil voice, school councils and class discussions.
-
Appreciate the importance of rules and laws in keeping everyone safe and happy, and the reasons behind them.
-
Celebrate individual liberty by encouraging children to make thoughtful choices and express their views respectfully.
-
Show mutual respect and tolerance towards others, learning about different cultures, beliefs and perspectives as part of our inclusive community.
These British values align closely with our own school values — Pride, Honesty, Resilience, Responsibility, Tolerance and Respect — and together they help us develop active, responsible citizens who are ready to thrive in a diverse and democratic society.
